Took the morning train from Brussels to Amsterdam. It was a very comfortable train ride as our car had plush seats and even had couches that one could relax on. At the Amsterdam train station we met yet another Canadian couple who were not shy about declaring their nationality. We have seen a lot more Canadian than American flags being worn - just saying.
We are staying at an Apartment Hotel on the outskirts of Amsterdam but it is a quick and easy train ride into Amsterdam Centraal train station. Today we booked 24 hour hop on/hop off tickets for both a bus and canal boat to better know the city. There are literally bikes everywhere and one has to be careful crossing the street as you have to deal with cars, trams and the bikes.
We tried a Heineken Silver today which is a special brew in honour of their 150th Anniversary. It is only available in the Netherlands on tap at the moment.
We got a feel for the city today with the Hop On/Hop Off tickets and will investigate specific things in more detail tomorrow.
